Instructor Support Update – 15th January
DVSA confirms no lessons or tests for key workers
Sadly, we have had confirmation from the DVSA that they are not allowing driving lessons for key workers nor offering test services during “Lockdown 3”.
Here is our pupil-facing blog post on this – https://www.billplant.co.uk/blog/dvsa-confirms-key-workers-are-not-allowed-driving-lessons-in-lockdown-3/
The DVSA did state they are keeping the decision on lessons and tests for key workers under review and they will communicate with us if anything changes.
Clarification for Private Lesson Practice
Whilst reiterating a “Stay Home, Save Lives” message the DVSA has also clarified that it is okay for a learner to practice driving, with members of their household or support bubble, as long as they are on an essential journey. Furthermore, they’ve confirmed it is not permissible to go for a drive just for practice and if individuals are caught doing so they could be fined.
We’ve created a blog post with more on this for you to share with your pupils if required – https://www.billplant.co.uk/blog/clarification-on-private-driving-lessons-during-lockdown-3/
