Instructor Support Update – 5th November

England Lockdown – Free Online Driving Instructor Training Workshops
Bill Plant Driving School are pleased to announce a series of free online workshops, focusing on the 3 higher level competencies surrounding both the Part 3 Exam and ADI Standards Check Test in addition to sessions regarding the structure of lesson planning. These workshops, for those affected by the newly introduced lockdown in England, are fully funded by Bill Plant Driving School and will be conducted by one of our Regional Trainers, James Verschoyle, who has consistently received overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding his standard of training.

These online workshops are a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in preparation for an upcoming exam or if you are simply looking to brush up your skills or meet new colleagues and share ideas. All sessions will take place on Zoom, 2 times per day, 4 days per week and cover the following topics:

  • Lesson Planning
  • Risk Management
  • Teaching and Learning Strategies
  • Lesson Structures

Spaces are limited and will be offered to instructors on a first-come, first-serve basis. You may only sign up to a maximum of one session per topic (i.e. the maximum number of sessions you can join is 4). Depending on levels of interest, these courses are subject to change in both duration and volume.

While no cancellation fee will apply, we do ask all instructors to make best efforts, if they are no longer able to attend a session, to provide us with sufficient notice to find someone to replace you.

Please review the provisional schedule outlined below – to sign up, simply email your Relationship Manager directly with the name(s) of the sessions you would like to attend as well as the date(s) and time(s) and we will confirm the slots with you in due course:

Driving Instructor Re-Training Offer
Due to the unfortunate events of the pandemic, a small number of instances have arisen where instructors on a trainee licence have elapsed the 2-year point from passing their Part 1 pass date, but have not been able to sit the full number of exams required to pass their Part 3.

While our Part 3 pass rate for PDI’s remains exceptionally high, with significantly reduced practical experience due to the lockdowns across the UK, we feel the events of the past year can significantly and understandably affect an individual’s performance in their exams.

Bill Plant Driving School cannot change the regulations as set out by the DVSA, however we are committed to ensuring every one of our instructors gets a fair chance of success. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that, at our discretion and subject to availability, we will offer any Bill Plant Driving School Instructor who has had their badge expire or is unsuccessful on their Part 3 or Standard’s Check the 40 hours of Part 3 training and additional 20 hours of mandatory training on a PDI licence for a heavily subsidised price of just £500 should they re-join Bill Plant Driving School as a PDI. For more information, please contact your Relationship Manager.

We will continue to do all we can to support our Instructors, Trainers, Trainees, Staff and Pupils.

Kind regards

Tom Hixon
