Birmingham Theory Test Centre Directions

Thankfully, it’s easy to get to Birmingham’s theory test centre by car and bus.

Car

The theory test centre is just outside the city centre of Birmingham on the A4400. Birmingham can be easily travelled to via the M5 and M6 as well as the M42.

Unfortunately, the Birmingham DVSA theory test centre does not have parking spaces available to the public. Thankfully, however, given the central location of the test centre, there is plenty of parking nearby.

We have mentioned three of the most popular and closest to the venue, but there are many more to choose from if you wish.

Birmingham Londonderry House Car Park

By far the most convenient car park to use is Londonderry House Car Park, although it is the priciest option that will cost just shy of £8.00 for a 2-hour slot.

Lower Lionel Street Car Park

The Lower Lionel Street Car Park is a paid-for car park open 24/7 all year round, which is located a handy 5 minute walk away at a moderate pace. While the parking fees increase on the weekends, the flat rate for 2 hours or less from Monday to Friday is £3.00. You can choose to pay by cash or card or pay over the telephone.

Great Charles Street

Great Charles Street is also open all year round and 24 hours a day and is also £3.00 for 2 hours or less, like Lower Lionel Street. This car park is situated approximately a one minute walk from the former, and so it will take you no longer than 6 minutes to reach the theory test centre address from here.

You can either choose to pay with cash or via a parking app.

Bus

The bus network in and around Birmingham theory test centre is reliable and cheap. There are a few different bus services you can take, depending on where you are coming from.

Number 12: This service moves between the centre of Birmingham and Dudley. Alight the bus at Colmore Row. Once on foot, go south and then turn right onto Newhall Street. Doing so will bring you to Queensway. The test centre is just a short walk away on the left-hand side.

Number 35: This bus service runs from the centre of Birmingham to Hawksley, which sits on the outskirts of the city to the south. Alight the bus on Moor Street, and you will need to walk for approximately 15 minutes through the city’s main shopping streets. Move towards St. Phillips Cathedral, arrive on Newhall Street, and make your way towards Queensway. The theory test centre will be further down the street on the left.

Number 110: This bus service operates between Tamworth and Birmingham. Alight at Snow Hill Queensway with the test centre is a quick 10-12 minute journey by foot from here. Start by moving towards Queensbury and then heading southbound in the direction of the theory test centre.

On The Day Of Your DVSA Theory Test

On the day of the theory test, make sure you arrive slightly early – this is better than arriving late and possibly being refused entry to the test, which will then result in the test fee you have pre-paid being lost.

Above all, remember to bring your provisional driving licence with you as a staff member will need to check it. Those that do not bring this photographic identification to the test centre may not be allowed to sit the exam. If you have misplaced – or think you might have lost your licence – you will be required to order and pay for a new one.

What Happens Next?

If you find you haven’t been successful and have failed your online theory test, try not to be too disheartened.
