The Scottish Government has confirmed that driving lessons will be allowed to resume in August, following a suspension of more than four months. Driving lessons and testing were stopped for everyone except key workers in March as part of nationwide lockdown restrictions.
Following the most recent Scottish Government announcement, driving lessons in Scotland will restart from Monday, August 24.
When will driving tests restart?
As with lessons, different parts of the UK have seen different dates for the resumption of driving tests.
Car theory tests restarted in Scotland on July 22 but the DVSA has not yet confirmed when practical tests will resume.
In England, there was an 18-day gap between lessons restarting and the resumption of practical tests, while there is a three-week wait in Wales.
It is likely there will be a similar gap between lessons and practical tests restarting in Scotland. Motorcycle and tractor tests will resume in Scotland on August 3.
