Driving Lessons and Tests postponed in Wales due to Alert Level 4

19/12/2020

The Welsh Government has updated their guidance on the new alert level 4 in Wales to control the spread of coronavirus in the country.

From 20 December all areas of Wales will be put into alert level 4 until the Welsh Government carries out its next formal review.

You can read more about the measures on the Welsh Government’s website.

Driving lessons

The Welsh Government has decided that driving lessons should not take place in Wales from 20 December until the restrictions are lifted. You should not travel out of Wales to take driving lessons or to take a driving test.

Driving tests

The Welsh Government has also decided that all car driving tests will be suspended in Wales from 20 December until the restrictions are lifted. This includes ADI part 2 and 3 tests and standards checks.

The DVSA will email candidates who are affected by this to let them know we will reschedule their test.

If you have booked a test you will receive an email to let you know it will be rescheduled to a new time and date.

The DVSA will send you an email with the new time and date as soon as possible; they ask pupils to be patient.

Theory tests

All theory tests will be suspended in Wales from 20 December.

The DVSA will email anyone who has booked a test and is affected by this to let them know the theory test is on hold and that they will need to reschedule it by visiting the Government website. This is in line with the Welsh Government’s guidance.
