Bill Plant Driving School offers Lessons to LUFC’s Youth Academy

09/09/2021

Bill Plant Driving School, with its roots firmly based in Yorkshire and with a large presence of Driving Instructors in Leeds, chose to reach out to the Leeds United Youth Academy to help support their players by teaching them a vital life skill.

Like with most young professionals who are looking to learn to drive in Leeds, Dani Van Den Heuvel (18), Charlie Allen (17), Morten Spencer (17) and Joe Snowdon (17), all aspiring professional footballers, have been massively affected by the backlog of cancelled driving lessons and tests.

With educational commitments and football training being affected by the pandemic, Bill Plant Driving School wanted to reach out to the Leeds United Youth Academy to try and make their lives a little less stressful, giving their players more freedom and independence to reach their career goals.

Despite the huge demand for driving lessons, Bill Plant Driving School was able to help via its instructors. Tony Bentley and Tanveer Ahmed (who provide manual and automatic driving lessons across Leeds) not only ensured that they were consistently available but also offered world-class tuition in the process for all the players to aid their personal development.

Callum Willams – The Player Care Lead at Leeds United Football Club commented:

“The boys haven’t been able to live normal lives for the past 18 months, none of us have but I think it’s been teenagers who have been hit the hardest. Training and education schedules have been all over the place and it’s been difficult for them to get any sort of consistency or routine in place to develop themselves as not only players on the pitch but also as people away from it.

Learning to drive is a huge milestone and having the support of Bill Plant Driving School has given our boys a bit of normality back. The demanding schedule often means it’s difficult to find the time for lessons but the Bill Plant Driving School team have been so understanding and flexible. Myself and the boys can’t speak highly enough of them”

Peter Brabin, Head of Training from Bill Plant Driving School, commented:

“With our founding’s based near Leeds and with so many instructors local to the football club, Bill Plant Driving School knew how important it would be to provide support to the local community. We are very pleased to be able to provide tuition and professional guidance to help some of the young players at Leeds United Football Club develop their independence, on the next step of their promising careers.”
