BREAKING: DVSA confirm all driving lessons and driving tests in England to be suspended again due to the second national COVID-19 lockdown

02/11/2020

Sadly, we have just received confirmation from the DVSA that all driving lessons and driving tests are to be suspended in England following the announcement on 31st October by the Government of the second National Lockdown due to COVID-19 from 5th November to 2nd December.

Q: What if I have a driving test booked between 5th November and 2nd December?

A: The DVSA have stated they will contact those affected soon. Please continue to speak to your Bill Plant Driving School Instructor during this period.

Q: What about theory tests?

A: The DVSA has today (3rd November) stated that all theory tests will be suspended in England from Thursday 5 November 2020. They’ll start again on Wednesday 2 December 2020.

Theory tests are taking place in Scotland. Theory tests in Wales are currently suspended and they’ll start again on Monday 9 November 2020.

The DVSA will contact you if your test is affected by local restrictions and tell you what you need to do.

Q: I have a driving lesson booked before Thursday, can it still go ahead?

A: Yes, the restriction due to the National Lockdown in England will only commence from Thursday.

Please speak directly to your Instructor and ensure you follow our COVID-19 lesson safety process.

Q: I’m currently taking driving lessons with a Bill Plant Driving School Instructor, what should I do?

A: For those currently taking Driving Lessons with Bill Plant Driving School, your local Driving Instructor will be in touch shortly to postpone your next lesson (if after 5th November) and to re-book for after 2nd December.

Q: What about driving lessons in Wales?

A: Driving lessons are currently planned to restart in Wales from 9th November.

Q: What about driving lessons in Scotland?

A: The new (second) lockdown is for England only currently, so driving lessons will remain unaffected.

Q: Due to the high demand after the first National Lockdown, are you still taking bookings for after 2nd December?

A: Yes, we are still taking Learn to Drive and Driving Instructor Training enquiries via billplant.co.uk and 0330 555 2254 and we will simply schedule these to commence after 2nd December or for when it is safe for us to do so.

Q: What about driving lessons and tests for keyworkers?

A: The DVSA has confirmed to Bill Plant Driving School that key workers “critical workers” will not be allowed to have lessons or undertake their theory or driving test during the national Lockdown across England.
