First; a note regarding the DSA's changes to the theory test
The Driving Standards Agency has not changed the way that you will sit the test. You will still be faced with a computer screen, 50 multiple choice questions, and a hazard perception part of the test that will still give you 14 videos and ask you to click when you see a hazard developing (15 hazards will develop).
The Pass Marks: Still the same!

You need to pass both sections of the Theory Test to pass.
"So what are the differences then?"
Revision - Understanding - Knowledge
These are the keywords that have become the focus of the DSA when it comes to the theory test.
The DSA want you to understand why a correct answer is correct, and why others are wrong and may pose danger to yourself and/or other road users.
Some of the pre-written questions that are in circulation in various formats will no longer be asked on the test, and eventually the majority of the questions that are available to be learned by rote (parrot fashion - no actual understanding required) will be phased out. The DSA have released educational text for candidates to learn from. Understanding the reasoning behind theory questions will make driving in general a safer experience for everyone.
When taking your hazard perception test you will see 14 video clips that will be about one minute long.
The clips themselves will show a situation when driving that will involve other road users and this will be shown from the driver's viewpoint. When each of the clips show a hazard or something that changes the drivers speed or direction will develop and you will need to identify this by clicking at the point that you notice the hazard developing.
