Your Approved Driving Instructor has passed all of the exams set by the Driver and Vechicle Standards Agency, ensuring that their standard of driving instruction is regularly checked and confirmed as being of a quality that continues to earn them the ADI badge.
If your driving instructor from another driving school displays the Potential Driving Instructor badge, he or she is not a fully qualified driving instructor.
Whilst this may not necessarily mean that the standard of instruction is less than that of a fully qualified instructor, it does mean that your trainee driving instructor has not passed the instruction exams and therefore has not yet met the requirements as set out by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency to be an ADI.

Not only passed a much tougher theory and practical driving test, but also passed a DVSA test of their ability to give instruction
Has passed a much tougher theory and practical driving test but has not yet passed their final exam of ability to provide instruction. They are currently training to take that final exam.
The authority to display an ADI identification certificate on the windscreen of the tuition vehicle
If a PDI fails their test of instructional ability 3 times, or their Pink Trainee Badge expires, they will no longer be able to provide driving lessons for reward
Needs to maintain a high standard of instruction - the DVSA checks this standard regularly
Your Bill Plant ADI will be graded A or B directly by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency as they regularly check the standard of instruction of all ADI's in the UK. Following checks, the instructor is given a grade:
A Instructor has shown a high standard of instruction and they will stay on the ADI register B Instructor will stay on the approved driving instructors (ADI) register Fail Performance is unsatisfactory
